Catbug is the alias of Paulien Rondou, a 24-year old musician and recent winner of ‘De Zes’, a famous Belgian pop- and rock-contest.

On November 16th 2018 Catbug will release her first album ‘Universe’ via the brand-new label ‘Illuminine Records’.

After growing up in the Belgian countryside, Paulien completed her studies in Fine Arts at the Antwerp Conservatory and currently lives on a farm close to Antwerp. Here she also recorded her material for ‘Universe’, as it turned out to be the perfect place to create an album which is an ode to loneliness, being one with nature and dreaming of far places and mountain landscapes. ‘Universe’ is not just a regular music album, it’s more of an intimate story, told through eleven bedroom recordings. Catbug takes the listener on a journey which reflects her past years on a personal and artistic level.

Think of wildlife dreams or the worlds of movies such as “Old Joy” by Kelly Reichardt and “Cemetery of Splendour” by Apichatpong Weerasethakul, and you’ll find yourself on the planet Catbug.
